Ned Archuleta draws everything in his work from his life at Taos Pueblo. His sculptures are often spiritual in subject. His involvement in the Tiwa religion keeps him motivated. "A lot of the pieces I’ve created come from the spirit form of thinking", says Ned.
He draws from his cultural heritage for the images he creates: the hair, dress, festivals, animals and sacred elements with which he's familiar. His alabaster sculptures are sensitive statements about day to day Tiwa life. A soft spoken man, known for sculptures of Tablita dancers, lovers, singers and chieftains, Ned confides that he wants his works to be "tributes to my people."
